This guide will show you everything about Sir Ambrojoe in Vampire Survivors. We will be covering the character’s overall stats, weapons, how to unlock, and some useful guide to help you win every round. Without further ado, let’s get started.
The Stats
Sir Ambrojoe, the newly knighted gentleman, made sure his appearance was impeccable in the mirror, adjusting his cuff links and ensuring everything was in its proper place. While armor was a bit excessive for his daily affairs, as a Knight, he still aimed to maintain a proper look.
As he placed his top hat on his head, an employee entered the room, informing him of a client’s urgent demand for piano delivery. Understanding the situation, Sir Ambrojoe nodded and agreed to handle it promptly. Soon, he found himself face-to-face with an older woman, her blonde hair framing her face as she berated him for the delay in delivering her baby grand piano.
Remaining composed, Sir Ambrojoe explained the logistics involved in moving the piano, which required separate transportation and proper entry access. Despite his explanation, the woman continued to unleash her frustration on him. Unfazed, Sir Ambrojoe proposed an instant delivery option for an additional fee of three hundred dollars.
The woman, desperate to have her piano immediately, agreed to the extra charge, albeit with disdain. With a sly smile, Sir Ambrojoe removed his top hat, astonishing the woman as he conjured the piano from within and sent it flying towards her house. As the piano crashed loudly, he calmly replaced his hat and informed the woman of the additional fee for the instantaneous delivery. With a mixture of shock and apprehension, the woman reluctantly agreed to pay.
As Sir Ambrojoe walked away, his cane tapping rhythmically, the woman trembled in disbelief at the unexpected turn of events.
The Weapon
La Robba being a weapon is pretty funny because it’s like throwing everything but the kitchen sink at the enemies. Even though there’s no sink to throw, you get to toss mirrors, lamps, a dresser, a coffin, and even a piano from the top center of the screen. These items bounce off enemies until their time runs out, which is about two seconds, and then there’s a cooldown of four and a half seconds. La Robba has eight levels, with each level increasing the base damage by 30, the speed by 50%, the amount by 4, and the duration by 1 second when it reaches the max level. Since La Robba doesn’t have an Evolve, you can finish building it faster and have more flexibility in choosing passive abilities.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
Joe starts with an impressive amount of extra ammunition, which is pretty crazy. Although it doesn’t last long, if you let experience points accumulate as much as possible, you can shorten the time between levels 6 and 19 when he’s waiting to start regaining ammunition. Additionally, if you’re looking for some bouncing fun and have unlocked the Merchant, you can pick up some of the weapons there since many of them are also bouncing weapons. Joe is practically made for running any of the variant bounce builds.
Cons:
The biggest issue with Joe is threefold. Firstly, La Robba has a long cooldown of 4.5 seconds, which feels even longer as Joe loses ammunition because of the high cooldown. Secondly, since Joe uses a larger weapon, the increased area coverage becomes a problem as items like the piano and coffin take up more of the screen, obscuring your vision somewhat. Thirdly, the way La Robba drops is also problematic. It drops from the middle of the top of the screen instead of from Joe like other characters with ammunition, which means the bouncing furniture sometimes needs you to run up to keep it on the screen or it will bounce down through enemies, leaving Joe vulnerable unless he positions himself where the furniture is falling from. Even then, the long cooldown makes it difficult to fully capitalize on the duration unless you pick up and max out both Empty Tome and Spellbinder, limiting your build options somewhat.
How to Unlock
To unlock Sir Ambrojoe, you need to defeat 6000 Stage Killers on Cappella Magna. Once you’ve accomplished this feat, you can add him to your team for 500 gold before scaling.
Tips and Suggested Builds
Joe may take some getting used to, as La Robba is an interesting weapon that works best with cooldown and duration. The goal is to extend the duration so it lasts longer than the cooldown, minimizing the wait time. Adding another weapon like Santa Water or Axe can greatly benefit Joe. Axe, firing in an upward arc, complements La Robba’s downward drop, creating a deadly kill zone where they intersect. Joe also makes excellent use of the Arcana Game Killer. Choosing a stage with weapons on the ground and visiting the Merchant to stock up on weapons for bouncing death and massive firepower is a smart strategy.
For weapons, consider Axe, Boomerang, Bone, Cherry Bomb, and Magic Wand. Passives like Attractorb, Candlelabrador, Crown, Empty Tome, Spinach, and Torrona’s Box (Banish level 9) are recommended. Arcanas such as Beginnings, Iron Blue Will, and Waltz of Pearls can enhance Joe’s performance.
The Fire Everything variant of the Bounce Build takes things to absurd levels with numerous bouncing objects on the screen. Starting with a visit to the Merchant for Bone and Cherry Bomb gets the build rolling quickly. As you level up, take your time to gather the remaining weapons and passives while waiting to acquire the Arcanas. You can also consider picking up Silver Ring for its added duration, although be cautious as the increased area from Candlelabrador and Torron’s Box may make it challenging to see elites and guardians. Additionally, the high amount of activity on the screen may affect performance.
Ultimate Amount Build:
- Weapons: Bone, Celestial Dusting
- Passives: Stage dependent
- Arcanas: Game Killer, Silent Old Sanctuary, Twilight Requiem
The Ultimate Amount build is incredibly potent but comes with significant risk versus reward. Obtaining the weapons is quick with a visit to the vendor, and both Bone and Celestial Dusting will immediately provide +10 Amount. However, it’s not a walk in the park. Due to Game Killer, you’re required to wait for chests to level up weapons. The passives you choose will depend on the stage you’re running. While some stages offer weapons, passives are more abundant. Silent Old Sanctuary works best with around three weapons for the additional cooldown and strength it grants. Twilight Requiem aids in leveling by allowing for Curse damage. Despite these advantages, it’s still a challenging build to execute due to the waiting period. Additionally, even the gems, being projectiles, may leave Joe vulnerable to being overrun as you try to collect them. Nevertheless, Joe has a significant advantage with the sheer amount of ammunition at his disposal.
Conclusion
I’ve always had a blast playing as Joe. His status as an Amount character adds a lot of versatility to building strategies, and he really shines when paired with Game Killer. However, focusing so heavily on one aspect can sometimes make it challenging to find the right stage for the passives you want.
Regardless of which direction you choose to take with Joe, he’s still a blast to play. I just wish they’d add a kitchen sink into the mix of furniture so you can throw that too!
